The Riverwood Middle School Beta Club
recently participated in the National Beta Club Convention in Greensboro.
The mission of the National Beta Club Convention Program is to allow students opportunities to showcase their academic achievement, artistic creativity, critical thinking skills, collaborative team work, and increase student leadership. The convention theme, “Beta Above and Beyond”, challenges all participants to achieve more, serve more, lead more, thus succeeding all expectations.
"The North Carolina Beta Club convention is an excellent opportunity for our students to compete with other exceptional students from across the state in all academic and fine arts categories," says Melisa Putney, who, along with Lesley Pender, serves as Faculty Advisor for the Beta Club. "Riverwood Middle School has consistently placed well in the competitions."
Among the Riverwood students placing in the top three in their respective competitions were Lauren Putney
(1st Place in Science Knowledge), Morgan Craig
(2nd Place in Sketch Art), Georgia Turner
(3rd Place in Essay), and Emily Currier
(2nd Place in Color).
